The Cause of Death in Adventurers
Welcome to the first companion blog post to my first YouTube video. My goal at the outset of this project is to have a small little companion piece that can delve deeper into things I touch on in the video, go behind the scenes on how things came to fruition, and maybe just mention some jokes that got cut. But this is the very first one of these, so I’m still very much figuring out the best use for the time that goes into these blog posts.
Today, we’re talking about the leading cause of death in adventurers, and we’re going to keep it pretty simple and just put a bit more emphasis on some things I skimmed past for the sake of comedic timing.
I’m going to assume you saw the video, and if you didn’t it’s literally right there, but while you were watching, you may have noticed that the data I showed on screen is a little small and hard to read, especially on mobile. So rather than force you to pause the video and squint, I figured I’d just include those charts here for people who just wanted to look at them, or who maybe for some reason wanted to check my work or do something else with the data.
Actually for anyone who does want to do that, here’s a link to the raw data from the survey.
The Charts
The Stories
Also in the video were a few choice snippets of the context people provided regarding their characters’ deaths, which were probably even harder to read than the charts, so I figured I’d include them here as well, along with a few of them that didn’t make the cut for the video but still made me chuckle.
